The Court

Abel Limachi - Brown ‘25

What’s up New Students!

I want to be one of the first to say welcome to Brown College - the BEST college at Rice! My name is Abel and I am Brown College’s Chief Justice (CJ) this year. I am a rising Senior from Houston studying Computer Science. In addition to being CJ, I will be one of your Brown Beer Bike Coordinators (LET'S GO BEER BIKE WOOOOOOOO), working at the Rec Center, or hanging around Brown. If you see me anywhere, feel free to say hi or yell my name across the quad and wave!

So, to give you an idea as to what I do as CJ, you can think of me as the head of the Brown Court, a student-run branch of our government which consists of myself and several Associate Justices (AJs). The role of the Court is to facilitate and maintain a safe environment of mutual respect and care at Brown. We also interpret and enforce the Constitution, Residence Rules, by-laws, and the Judicial Code (which you will learn more about during DiscO-Week). We also help maintain the Rice Drug & Alcohol Policy, manage fees from Housing and Dining, and manage disputes like noise complaints. Essentially, our role is to help ensure every Brownie feels safe and healthy throughout their time at Rice. Feel free to reach out to me or any of the other AJs about any concerns you have!

See you soon and welcome to the BEST residential college at Rice!

BSWB,

Abel Limachi
